The 9 x 12 booklet envelope opens on the long (12-inch) edge, loading from the side rather than the top. This orientation suits flat document mailing, marketing packets, and any outgoing piece where the contents slide in from the side naturally. This version is brown kraft, 28 lb, which is heavier than the 24 lb white wove alternative and gives the envelope more structural rigidity under a full document load. The rectangular flap and two parallel seams hold their shape through postal handling without bowing at the face or lifting at the corners. Available blank or with custom logo and return address printing from Business Envelopes. Free shipping, no minimums.
Booklet and open-end are the two flat-document envelope orientations in the 9 x 12 size. Both envelopes are 9 x 12 inches. Both hold an 8.5 x 11 sheet flat without folding. The loading direction is the only difference. A booklet envelope opens on the long (12-inch) edge: the flap runs across the full 12-inch width and the document slides in from the side. An open-end envelope opens on the short (9-inch) edge: the flap runs across the 9-inch width and the document loads from the top. The booklet format is the standard choice for side-loading insertion workflows and for direct mail programs where the piece is inserted horizontally. The open-end format suits top-loading insertion equipment and document submission workflows where contents are stacked from above. If you're unsure which orientation your process uses, booklet is the more common default across commercial mailing programs.
Brown kraft takes custom printing differently than white wove. The natural medium-brown surface accepts black ink printing with strong contrast. Your return address, logo, and any text on the face read clearly and cleanly against the kraft background. Colors other than black print differently on kraft than on white, which is why the standard custom print on this envelope is black or dark ink on the brown face. If you're sourcing custom 9x12 envelopes and your brand has a white or light-colored logo, the white booklet version may be the better printing surface. If your brand works in black or dark ink, or if the kraft aesthetic is intentional for your mailing program, the brown booklet is the right choice.
Custom printing is available with your return address and logo positioned to the upper left in standard commercial format. PDF proof goes out before production begins. Artwork stays on file for reorders so recurring annual programs don't require re-uploading files each cycle. Custom printed orders ship in 7 to 10 business days from proof approval.
